Harvested from the young green coconut, the extracted water is clear with a light flavour.
Coconut water is a fresh and accessible source of hydration for people in the Tropics in places like Southeast Asia, the South Pacific, the Caribbean and South America (Brazil is one of the main suppliers). Having been in Jamaica recently, iced cold coconut water was the best thing to quench my thirst in the hot hot hot tropical sunshine!

Coconut water provides a sweet tasting alternative to water or sugary soft drinks and juices. The taste can vary due to its source. Recently I tried Zico Coconut Water who handpick coconuts from Asia and Indonesia. It is as good as drinking fresh water from the coconut.

Some of the benefits!

  • it has only 68 calories!
  • zero added sugar, but, although I didnt know this until doing my research pure coconut water contains natural sugars, so there is 15.6g of sugar :(
  • contains magnesium great for reducing tiredness
  • High in potassium (more than bananas) – may help prevent strokes, heart attacks, dehydration and hangovers.
  • Overall it is a tasty alternative to water that has no preservatives, no fat, no cholesterol and fewer calories than your average flavoured waters, fruit juices or smoothies.
Coconut water is good for your hair and skin! A good tip for puffy eyes is to wet a cotton pad with coconut water and leave it on your eyes for five minutes.

Normally £2 a bottle but you can buy half price and delivered on the link below!

So here is a recipe to a face mask that's so powerful, the results are immediate. Really!

It's all natural and you need to do this because you'll love me for it and your skin will love you!

Ingredients

Red clay - about a handful
Turmeric - 1 teaspoon
Cinnamon - 1 / 2 teaspoons depending on how invigorating you want it!
Ginger (powder) - 2 teaspoons
Nutmeg - a little freshly grated

Mix all together et voila!

Directions
Pour some into hand, activate with a few drops of water, and apply to skin.
If you have sensitive skin, you literally have to wash immediately after. Otherwise leave on for upto 2 minutes than wash off with water .

It tingles, a bit. And your skin is fresh, glowy and looks amazing!

Before!

After!

Hey hey hey!
Today I have a long post since it's the Easter Holidays and I hope you spent it feeling happy and filled with hope (and chocolate)!

Easter is a time of hope and celebration! And I just love listening to good music, especially music I remember my mother used to play when I was a child.  Stephanie Mills knows how to get the party started at the Apollo! I feel goooood! I feel good alll over! I feel so good yeah!!

This Easter it was great to ShareTheMiracle with so many people! And attend Easter Service..some of the talks can be found here

I uploaded a video on YouTube of my new healthy morning routine!
it's very simple and effective. ..
For face cleansing I use Raw Honey with some tea tree oil.

Honey is anti fungal, anti bacterial, and a natural humectant which means it will help your skin retain moisture.
For toner I used a non alcoholic toner - Sense skincare.
And swish my mouth with sesame oil which helps detox.
I moisturise with Rosehip oil which i am in love with as its great for repairing the skin, and gives a natural glow.

Talking about glowing I've been inspired to do some hulahooping!
According to a study by the American College of exercise, hula hooping can burn seven calories per minute, as much as a grueling bootcamp class, plus it looks really cool!  I hope to get to this standard...that would be amazing.

I had my blow dried straight and got to try some new styling products, particularly leave in conditioners, which especially as I am wearing my natural Afro hair, it is a necessity!

I really liked how AntiSnap by RedKin, made my thick Afro hair so easy to blow out.  Unfortunately I can't use anymore as it contains parabens which I prefer not to use in my hair.  So i have ordered some Shea Moisture Restorative Conditioner, which uses natural raw Shea butter and other natural ingredients.

This time last year my hair had all but fallen out, so I am very strict on what I will use.

Until next time, got to go as I have to check out the new BBC1 series Jamaica Inn on at 9pm. Its nothing to do with Jamaica as I originally thought though..:D

I recently came back from Jamaica, and there isnt anywhere in the world where you can get patties like the ones in Jamaica, until today!  There's a new restaurant in Covent Garden, opened 3 weeks ago called JamaicaPattyCompany.  The owner, Theresa Roberts, is originally from Jamaica, hailing from St Elizabeth parish, my grandmothers hometown.  Big up!  The restaurant is petite, stylish and modern.  Very upmarket Caribbean takeaway catering to the International customer.  You can get authentic Rum Cake, and a nice cuppa peppermint tea as well as freshly baked patties and soup.
Me with Theresa Roberts (founder)

Whilst you're in Covent Garden, also check out the new Aesop shop, which has been there for seven months.  The shop design is pretty cool.  It has a very Mediterranean / North African feel to it which is very nice.   Since I've been wearing my hair 'au naturel' I've been on the lookout for some good hair products so I tried Aesops Violet Leaf Hair Balm.  Its a great alternative to pure shea butter, which I don't know about you but, I find it too heavy for everyday use in my hair.  But this one is light, with a lotion-like consistency. It also contains lots of natural ingredients such as Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Carrot Oil, and Lavender. Worth a try!

As you know I'm a Believer, and since it's Easter the name 'Resurrection', is so in tune with this time.
The cream is captivating, and one of the best hand creams I have ever tried! It really is a miracle for the hands and is definitely the 'wow' factor, shame about the price though! If I were to buy it I would have to get the large bottle which is £60 but it looks so aesthetically pleasing. It would make any bathroom look chic! Smells good, looks good, feels good!
if you register with Whatsinmyhandbag.com you have the opportunity to try one for free! (limited supplies so hurry!)

Speaking about bathrooms, I'm really inspired by this interiors blog EightHundredSqFt which is specifically for smaller apartments.  If you live in London, you will know houses aren't particularly spacious, so I find this blog realistic and really useful, I especially like the 'Small Space of the Week' tag.  I love this design! And this one too!

What's your thoughts? Have you tried any of the products?

Q. I have very dry skin on my body, what do you recommend, as I cream my skin everyday but in the morning its very dry?
Melissa, London

Hi Melissa,

My 3 tips are;
1. Try using a nourishing and natural body oil before creaming.  This will help nourish your skin and provide added moisture.  I like coconut oil, or you could use olive oil or almond oil.

2. Exfoliate regularly as this will get rid of dead skin cells on the surface which give skin a dull appearance. It will also help the moisturiser go to deeper levels in the skin.

3. Use a body wash that is Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES) free!
SLES is a surfactant that can really strip the skin of moisture, and there are now many body washes made without it.
I found Organic Surge to be very nice...
Try Organic Burst Tropical Bergomot for a burst of freshness in the morning.
