Global Rise of Fashion Technology

There's a buzz in the digital world, and its all about Fashion Technology...what will be the next must-have? nobody really knows, which I think makes the subject of technology ever the more so interesting.  Most of the big tech companies...Twitter, Facebook, Youtube etcetera etcetera only started in the last few years so what can we expect in years to come in the digital revolution??

It was really cool to hear from Martin McNulty (Forward3D) and Kate Unsworth (Kovert Designs) at the Global Rise of Fashion Technology @CampusLondon hosted by  Marc Cameron  founder of 2210 Fashion on Monday (1st December 2014)

So the key advice from the experts about Fashion technology were...
- think luxury market..Emerging middle class worth £100 billion and Asia has massive growth potential - New technology should empower people to take control of technology rather than dominate lifestyle. Think about consumer first and make something they are proud to wear.

-The High Street isn't dead...Nike Town is an example of what the High Street can do to create brand experience.  Current Growth Trends - Geo-Location - Customers receiving proximity-driven offers or communications from businesses that are in their immediate proximity map.  And Laser Counting Technology enabling data on new and repeat visitors, so the retailer would know your previous purchases and be able to use this data to provide a better service.

- You don't need to make a product...so many unmade products/projects have received funding on - www.kickstarter.com

Tech Goes Luxe

After the event I spoke with Kate Unsworth, the Tech Entrepreneur of www.KovertDesigns.com about to launch her Wearable Tech jewellery line on Net-A-Porter.com The collection named Altrius is counter-intuitively using tech to get away from tech.

The jewellery alerts you when you have a call/message according to your preferences, that means that you don’t have to keep looking at you mobile, reaching for your bag to see what’s going on or leaving one eye on your touchscreen while you should be focusing on the person in front of you.

What I love about her line 'Altruis' is it doesn't look like typical gadget-looking wearable technology but more like luxury jewellery, with rings made of white zirconia ceramic stone with rose gold.

Key Features
-Charges in an hour or so and battery lasts 3 weeks so you don't need to take charger when on holiday.
-The stone is also removable so you can customise ring designs to match your outfit.

Exclusively available now at http://altru.is/ and soon at www.net-a-porter.com Jan 2015!
