Well they basically tell you the person has not only received your message but read your message!
So no more pretending you haven't seen your ex's message, or not replying to that dinner party invite... ;)
What's more if you're in a group there's absolutely no hiding as when you tap and hold the message it not only tells you who read the message but the time they read it :)
However, WhatsApp allows users to disable the blue ticks (read receipt) feature. You can do that by tapping into WhatsApp’s privacy settings and un-checking the read receipt option. Though, once a user disables the blue ticks, they won't be able to see the blue ticks in all their conversations.
