Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz came from humble beginnings - grew up in the projects in Brooklyn, but today, Starbucks enjoys annual revenues well in excess of $10 billion, serving nearly 60 million people a week in 16,000 stores across 54 countries. His advice for success is don't allow anyone to tell you you are aiming too high.  (He is no more intelligent than any of us but look at what he achieved.)  Business is a team sport and success is best when its shared with others. (You can't do it alone). You cant attract and retain great people if all you're in business to do is make profit.  A company needs a value system and to stand for something in addition to making money.  Starbucks are a non-tech business - anyone can open a coffee shop - but have a great business model based on creating an emotional connection and not only making profit but doing the right thing. Starbucks mission statement is to "inspire and nurture the human spirit, one person, one cup, one neighbourhood at a time".
